Local Four-Star General Keynotes Annual Commanders Reception

Local commanding officers, elected officials and business leaders gathered for your San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s annual Commanders Reception to welcome new transitioning military and thank them for their service.

Chamber Chairman David McGee, President & CEO of Amegy Bank, welcomed the group of over 150 individuals and thanked the military for their service to our country and their partnership in making San Antonio a great city to live in. McGee introduced the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee (MAC) Chairman Carroll Schubert, President and CEO of Professional Contract Services, Inc. Schubert, a former city councilman, spoke about the tremendous impact the military has on San Antonio and thanked all who had attended the annual event. Schubert has led the MAC for the past eight months and has been a tremendous ally and advocate for the military as a Chamber representative here in San Antonio, as well as in Austin and Washington, D.C.

Schubert introduced Mike Martinez, Senior Vice President for Military Affairs at Security Service Federal Credit Union, presenting sponsor for the event. Martinez, a retired marine of 16 years, is responsible for all matters pertaining to military membership and military communities. Martinez has been an active member of the MAC and has supported the military and your chamber’s military events for a number of years.

Martinez introduced the keynote speaker of the reception General Robin Rand, Commander of Air Education & Training Command, who welcomed all to the event and praised the Chamber for its role in support of the military. Rand is San Antonio’s senior military commander; the local four-star general at Randolph has been stationed in San Antonio twice, beginning in 1980 and most recently since October 2013. Rand has been a key partner in the community and friend to the Chamber during his assignment to Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA). He thanked Chamber members for their support and the appreciation they continuously provide to our service members.

This military highlight event would not be possible without dedicated sponsors. Special thanks to Security Service Federal Credit Union, USAA, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union and Professional Contract Services. For more information on the MAC, please contact Danny Chavez at (210) 229-2190.
